“My buddy Dare is one of the smartest people I know. He has already turned a drone concept into a business. Now he’s working on this VR idea that will make him a pile of cash. He flew in so that he could work out all the bugs. It won’t be long until some supermodel becomes his first trophy wife.”
From that point, Veronica slowly began to warm to him. It was either that, or the Everclear punch was kicking in.
By the end of the party, she was sticking her tongue down Dare’s throat and grabbing his package.
David had suddenly appeared and pulled Veronica off his friend and handed her to the giant, who Dare learned was called ‘Bear,’ so David could talk to him.
“You take a drunk girl home around here,” David said seriously. “The last thing you want to do is get in a situation where she can say she was too drunk to consent and was date-raped.”
And that made his earlier excitement begin to deflate like a leaky pool toy.
“What should I do?”
“She’s too drunk to drive, so take her upstairs and put her to bed. Let her sleep it off. Tomorrow, ask her out on another date, then find the courage to kiss her at the end of it,” David said.
Dare thought about it. On the one hand, Veronica had kissed him and grabbed his dick, which she begged to see. But …
“You know … that doesn’t sound so bad,” he decided.
He could play the long game. Greg had told him that if you wanted something more than a quick hookup, you had to think of the girl first, not what your dick wanted.
“Girl down,” Bear announced.
Veronica was slumped against him.
“Dare, show Bear where to carry her,” David said.
Dare was relieved that he was getting help to carry Veronica up to the third floor, where his and Corvus’s bedroom was. When he saw Bear carry Veronica into their room, he mumbled that he would sleep on the couch downstairs.
“I really appreciate the help,” Dare said to the big man.
“No problem,” Bear said and then got a stern look on his face. “I’m trusting you’re a gentleman.”
Dare blanched because if Bear threatened someone, they took it seriously.
“I promise to only take her shoes off.”
“Good answer,” Bear said and left, shutting the door on his way out.
Dare stared at Veronica lying in his bed. It seemed that whenever he was around David, good things happened.
Dare removed Veronica’s shoes and turned her to her side. He grabbed a garbage can and put it within easy reach before he went into the bathroom to take a shower. It had been a long flight, and someone had spilled beer down his back.
In the shower, he closed his eyes and let the warm water do its work. He soaped up his hand, wrapped it around his member, and began to slowly stroke it. His one real girlfriend, Chrissy, had been the only female to ever see it. She’d been surprised at his size.
Dare knew that he was larger than average—seven inches, but nothing outlandish. It did look huge when his ex saw it because of how skinny he’d been. Since then, he’d grown. He was still a skinny nerd, but he thought he didn’t look like a complete freak with his gained height.
Once he’d calmed the beast, Dare put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in. He found Veronica lightly snoring, so he climbed in on the other side of the king-size bed. Even with the time change, Dare was exhausted and quickly fell asleep.

Houston! We have a problem!
While Dare was no stranger to morning wood, he wasn’t used to having a hand wrapped around it. A hand that wasn’t his.
His eyes sprang open, and he discovered that Veronica had obviously gotten up during the night because she was stark naked. She wasn’t gorgeous the way he’d thought she was. She was breathtaking. Veronica was so far out of his league that Dare couldn’t hope to be with her, let alone deserve to be in her company. She was too hot. She had too much beauty, too much … everything. Her overall magnificence had thrown his confidence out the window.
Dare hesitantly extracted himself from the death grip she’d obtained and slipped out of bed. He’d never much enjoyed dating in college. It wasn’t the dating itself that disagreed with him; it was more the inevitable self-doubt the next day. Right now, the self-doubt was kicking his ass. He wanted to talk to his roommate.
He made his way downstairs, where he found Corvus lying on the couch. Precious stood on the boy’s chest, and their eyes were locked on one another.
“Shoo,” Dare said.
Precious switched her eyes from Corvus to him. She hopped off the couch and slowly walked away.
“That cat hates me,” Corvus said to state the obvious.
“That was my first college hookup. Is there some kind of follow-up protocol?”
Corvus couldn’t help but laugh at his roommate’s confusion.
“I don’t think so. Some obvious things jump to mind. Don’t be a stalker, don’t be creepy, and don’t be weird. Also, I heard that you should wait for her to text you, not the other way around.
“But I don’t think you have to worry about it. Veronica is too hot. The Principle of Comparable Hotness says it will never work,” Corvus said.
Being MIT engineers, the two of them had come up with the concept to help explain the rules of getting girls. The Principle of Comparable Hotness—which said a relationship worked best if both parties generally had the same level of physical appeal—had proven to be true. Anytime one of their nerd friends had reached for a cute girl, it hadn’t ended well.
“I’ve told you before that that theory is bullshit. Mainly because you can’t quantify subjective hotness. It’s all based on the perceptions of the parties involved, and you can’t know another person’s perception,” Dare argued.
“Says the guy who helped formulate the principle,” Corvus shot back.
“I guess I should cut my losses before it turns ugly,” Dare moaned.
“So, you’re using our crap science to justify not taking your shot at proving the concept wrong. Which is fine, I guess, if you want to spend the rest of your life growing old with your goldfish, watching streaming video, and eating frozen pizza,” his roommate observed.
Dare liked streaming video and frozen pizza. Then he thought about Veronica lying naked in his bed right now, and his shorts began to tighten. What the fuck was he doing talking to Corvus? As he hurried back upstairs, he heard his roommate chuckling.
As he entered the room, Veronica sat up and stretched her arms over her head. Dear Lord, that did wonderful things to display her breasts.
“Morning,” she said sexily.
“The way you look right now has shaved about thirty points off my IQ,” he admitted.
“Why do you have clothes on?” Veronica asked.
Maybe she was more intelligent than he was because Dare had no good answer for that.

Once Veronica had wrapped her lips around his manhood, Dare had been struck dumb. He was grateful that she’d had the common sense to suggest a condom. Dare thanked the gods when he found a box in the nightstand.
When Veronica had straddled his hips, and he sank into her, Dare was lost. He could not imagine a better way to lose his virginity as he watched her gently ride him with her magnificent breasts swaying. He’d always been confused as to why David was such a man-whore. Now Dare knew what he’d been missing.
As all first-time virginity-losing orgasms seem to go, Dare’s was quick on the trigger.
“Sorry, but that was my first time.”
“I bet we can do it again,” Veronica suggested.
Hell, Yes!
Dare predicted that coming to spend a few weeks with David was going to be the best decision he’d ever made, if this was an example of what he could expect.

Chapter 23
David
David and Duke came downstairs to find Cassidy and Corvus eating doughnuts and drinking coffee. Cassidy had Precious in her lap. The stupid cat was eyeing Corvus like he was a midmorning snack.
