Кто бы мог подумать, что маленький мальчик, выросший в сонном захолустье Дувра, когда-нибудь напишет книгу о знаменитых воронах Лондонского Тауэра? Уж точно не мои школьные учителя и не полицейский, который схватил меня за шиворот и вытащил из старого «Форда Англия», когда я собирался его угнать!
На протяжении всей своей жизни я изо всех сил старался окружить себя людьми, которые говорили: «Да, ты можешь это сделать» вместо «Нет, у тебя ничего не получится». Мы всегда вправе выбирать: считать ли стакан наполовину пустым или наполовину полным. Что касается меня, я предпочитаю стакан, налитый до краев.
Кстати, о полных стаканах. Свой я поднимаю со словами благодарности в адрес моих прекрасных друзей Линдси Фитцхаррис и Эдриана Тила, которые бесконечное число раз уговаривали меня проводить для них экскурсии по Тауэру и по пути разглагольствовать о наших безумных идеях перед всеми, кто готов был слушать. Они заставили меня выпить невообразимое количество джина (конечно, того, что носит название «Beefeater») и всегда в меня верили. Ваше здоровье!
