I enjoyed the last one. Soup dumplings were a little messy but tasty; you ate them with a little red vinegar. I liked that Jackie found dishes we would like that most of us hadn’t tried before. I could hardly wait for the main course. Jackie began to point out dishes as they were put on the table.

“The first two are side dishes. I love green beans with garlic. That one is wood ear mushrooms in a vinegar dressing. The next dish is from Xinjiang. My mom calls it ‘kosher Chinese food.’ This is crispy fried wheat-flour dough twists, and next to it is kao baozi. It’s a baked lamb pie. You rarely find these in the US.

“The next two dishes are from Hunan. This one is drunken chicken, which is pretty much chicken cooked in a beer sauce. Then there’s stir-fried duck blood. It’s really not all that different from blood sausage, but stir-fried,” Jackie said.

It looked like I might get to eat that one alone.

“The last dish is yu xiang eggplant, or eggplant in garlic sauce, which is from Szechuan.”

I loved the food Jackie introduced us to.

When we were done, I was glad that Adrienne suggested that we go back to her place. It had been a long day. When we arrived, several packages were waiting for me. I found they contained clothes from today’s shoot. The girls helped me carry them upstairs.

Everyone changed and put on more comfortable clothes. I put on a pair of the matching Hollister sweats and sweatshirt, then sat on the floor in front of Pam and Kara. Adrienne broke out the wine. Pam and I refrained, each for our own reasons.

It was evident from the conversation that the New York girls had bonded with Pam and Kendal today. They told me all about their day of beauty. I told them about my new crush, Melinda Kesh.

“Funny you should mention that,” Tyler said. “Your prom date, Hannah Minacci, got engaged.”

I flopped on the floor.

“Nooooo! How could she?” I moaned.

“It gets better,” Adrienne said. “I told her about what you did to me, and she said that if you’d gone to prom together, she would’ve rocked your world.”

I curled up in a little ball.

“That was mean,” Kara said.

For some reason, none of them were feeling my pain. How could Hanna Minacci be off the market? It just wasn’t right. Adrienne got me a glass of wine and told me to man-up; I guess I was having wine after all. She promised to get me more gigs with Melinda, which seemed to help. Maybe I should throw a fit more often.

Once the wine started to do its magic, Adrienne wanted to know more about Ryan’s equipment. That was when something came out of left field.

“I think David gives oral better than you do,” Adrienne said to Tyler.

“Bullshit,” Tyler said.

“What say you, Kara? Is our boy good at it?” Adrienne asked.

I was getting a little uncomfortable. If it hadn’t been for the case of wine I’d bought last time I was here, I might have been more worried. We’d made a serious dent in it, and I was feeling mellow, as was everyone else but Pam.

“Prove it,” Tyler challenged.

As much as I loved this idea, I wasn’t sure it was smart. I had Pam to worry about, and was afraid of what might happen if we all started getting naked.

“I’m not sure about this …” I began.

Kendal spoke up.

“My grandpa had a saying that I think fits here. ‘If you’re at the dinner table, and they’re passing around pie, you eat pie. You never know if there’ll be any later.’ So, if it’s fur pie being passed around, you eat fur pie.”

I got the giggles. I couldn’t believe Kendal had just said that. Looking at Pam, I mentally asked her what I should do. She just nodded.

“How are we going to settle this?” I asked.

I think Tyler may have shit herself. Apparently, she never expected I would call her bluff.

“I think it has to be women neither of you has been with who decide,” Adrienne said.

I looked around the room and realized that left Kendal and Jackie.

“You two okay with this?” I asked.

“Do bears shit in the woods? Do ducks take to water? Hell, yes!” Kendal said.

For a moment, I thought Kendal’s outburst might have been the wine talking, but I was shocked when Jackie simply dropped her panties and lifted her skirt. She made a ‘come hither’ motion with her finger. Meanwhile, Tyler dropped to her knees in front of Kendal.

Competitive kitty-eating should be an Olympic sport. The only question was, should it be in the winter or summer games? While I defended the male’s ability to give oral, Pam and Kara went to my room. Unfortunately, what people say about girls knowing what other girls want is true. Tyler was declared the winner.

I was tempted to stay and plunder new kitty but was too curious as to what was going on in my room. What I found almost took my breath away. I’ve always had a thing for Kara. She has a rocking body, and her steel-gray eyes just pierce your soul. The image of her naturally darker skin rubbing up against my California surfer girl’s pregnant body will forever be etched into my brain. I quietly watched as they made love to each other. Unlike what was happening in the living room, this was much more tender and loving.

I watched for several minutes as their sexual passion ramped up. I finally thought, ‘screw it,’ got naked, and put on a condom. When my weight hit the bed, they knew I was there. Kara let out a deep moan as I buried myself. As I got busy, Pam grabbed my face and kissed me.

Both girls appreciated that Melinda had worked me up all afternoon. I was ready for a sexual marathon.

When we were done, we all had to take showers and change the sheets. I would never regret leaving the living room to spend time with Pam and Kara because I cared deeply for them both. I’d always said that if Kara and I were ever in the same city for more than a couple of days at a time, I would lock her down. Pam was about to be the mother of my child. Seeing two women that I cared that much about making love and then joining in was special, even if Adrienne wasn’t in the mix. While she might be the best I’d ever been with, I didn’t care as much for her as I did Pam and Kara. I was finding that made a difference when it came to good sex.

Chapter 9 – Valentine’s Day is Overrated Sunday February 14

When I woke up Sunday morning, both Pam and Kara were still asleep. I put on my running clothes and hit the streets. Adrienne lived only three blocks from Central Park, and that seemed like a good place to run. I was wearing one of my new hoodies and sunglasses in the hope no one would recognize me.

When I got to the park, I picked a running trail and began to lengthen my stride. It felt good to be able to just zone out and enjoy the morning. It was chilly, but not so cold that it was a distraction. I misjudged the trail I was on and ran farther than I usually did. By the time I got back to Adrienne’s, everyone was already up, except Adrienne.

What I found surprised me.

“Did you see this?” Pam asked, holding up the newspaper.

I looked confused, so she shoved it at me, got up, and ran off to our room.

It was Page Six from the New York Post. I read the headline: ‘David A. Dawson Cheats on Baby Mama.’ There was a big picture of Pam and me at the airport. Then they had two pictures of me with other women—one with Tyler and another with Melinda. This was right next to an article about a starlet who used her high heels to beat off a stalker. Below that was another about a singer who fired his staff because they didn’t have the right food at his concert.
