Drift (514 MC-)
A ne seer, an androgynous distort of the Serbota tribe with well-trained telepathic abilities. As a Serbota, Drift was devoted to Paseq. Such devotees must "continually chant praise of Creation and serve Life" (as revealed in The Duple Command-ment of the Divider). Drift served Bonescrolls as an emissary to the Serbota, and later it served the eth as a psychic factotum.
Rubeus (86-533 MC)
As the Delph's personal AI, Rubeus was created to protect and serve the godmind. It was physically a mountain (Oxact) of psyncrystals in Graal, but the AI's influence was extended throughout the world by millions of animal and human orts. Within the first century of its function, Rubeus' crystal infra-structure was distorted by cosmic rays and Linergy. Subse-quently it began to hunt down timeloose distorts and godminds outside Graal with a particularly vicious and thorough intensity. The Delph, immersed in the earthdreaming, was unaware of the demon he had spawned until he was himself swept up in Rubeus' cruel bid for total dominance of the earth.
Nefandi (386-533 MC)
An ort created by godminds in Graal to serve as a man-servant, then freed after a period of useful service. To sup-port a coobla addiction, Nefandi served Rubeus (506-533 MC) as a voor-stalker and godmind-killer. Using a sensex and a field-inducer, he was virtually invulnerable and inescapable. Rubeus employed him against Corby and Bonescrolls.

AI (Autonomous Intelligence): a mind that has been created by psychophysics to program itself beyond the bio-imperatives (conscious and unconscious) of its creator.

Botte: a yawp term of direct address used to express praise, joy, thanks.
Brood: a voor community, usually nomadic.
Brood jewel (also scry crystal and stonelight): a voor gem grown over centuries from a glandular excretion that can be derived from most voors: The gem varies in color, size and shape, but all gems hold and enhance kha-producing Ricci-tensor reflectants that often allow an observer to witness time-forward probabilities or expan-sive psychic states.
Causal collapse: the realityshaping solipsism surrounding a powerful timeloose consciousness, like the Delph.
Chrysalid (sleepod): a hibernating module at the null-gravity core of the planet designed by the Delph to maintain his physical form during periods when the earth is out of Line.
CIRCLE (Center of International Research for the Continu-ance of Life on Earth, 2009-2113): a
self-sufficient scien-tific community on the southern Peruvian coast (kro), established to find ways to compensate for the massive morphological changes that began as the earth swung into Line; at the time of its causal collapse (2113), CIR-CLE was the only technological community of any signifi-cance on earth.
Coobla: a device that induces psynergy-stimulation in the amygdala, the brain's pleasure-core.

Deva: an artificial lifeform designed to thrive in the iono-sphere; they draw sustenance from the solar wind, and their diaphanous physical forms sail around the planet with the solar tide.
Devil harp: a combination double-reed, string, and percus-sion instrument of voor conception consisting of a mel-ody pipe (geepa stem) through which air is blown into a small but extremely flexible windbag (made of a rundi's lung sac or a young mentis pod) encased in a hawkwood sounding box; notes are produced by stopping the holes in the melody pipe with one hand, while with the other manipulating trip-hammer pegs to strike stalkwires of varying lengths strung inside the sounding box: a seed-case rattle attached to the underside of the sounding box produces an additional percussive sound; the devil harp's tessitura exceeds human hearing on both spectral ends.

Drone strap: a headpiece which acts directly on the parasym-pathetic nervous system, intensifying physical
strength and dulling mental activity; all dorgas are required to wear them while working; the straps hold in place a skull implant which feeds inhibitors and conditioners into the subarachnoid space around the brain.
