20. The vocabulary of academic journals

In the Corpus of Contemporary American English, the texts from academic Journals come from more than 76 million words in Journals representing a wide range of domains—education, history, technology, medicine, law, and so on. Notice the vocabulary that is related to these specific domains, as well as the more abstract vocabulary (as opposed to fiction, for example) that deals with ideas and processes.
