Twilight
CHAPTER 1
• Bella moves to Forks
Bella leaves her mother and Phoenix; Charlie has bought an old pickup for her
• Bella attends her first day of school at Forks High School Bella meets Eric, Jessica, Mike, and Angela; she sees the Cullens for the first time
• Bella has Biology class with Edward
Bella sits next to Edward; Edward glares at Bella like he hates her; after school, Bella sees Edward in the office trying to switch out of their Biology class
CHAPTER 2
• Edward misses school the rest of the week
• Edward returns to school
Edward touches Bella‘s hand by accident during their Biology lab project; Bella notices that Edward‘s eyes are golden instead of black
CHAPTER 3
• There is ice on the roads and in the school parking lot Bella is touched to find that Charlie has put chains on her truck‘s tires; Tyler‘s van skids into Bella; Edward pushes Bella out of the way and holds up the van; Edward pleads with Bella to say he was standing beside her before the accident
• Bella, Tyler, and Edward go to the hospital to be examined Bella meets Dr. Carlisle Cullen for the first time; Bella wants an explanation from Edward for the lie; Edward refuses
CHAPTER 4
• Bella dreams of Edward for the first time
• Edward doesn‘t speak to Bella for six weeks
• The Girls‘ Choice Spring Dance is coming up soon
Mike asks Bella to the dance, but Bella refuses, saying she is going to Seattle that day; Edward speaks to Bella again, telling her it is better if they aren‘t friends; Edward laughs as Eric and Tyler ask Bella to the dance; the next morning Edward offers to drive Bella to Seattle; Edward reminds Bella it would be more prudent for her not to be his friend
CHAPTER 5
• Edward invites Bella to sit with him at lunch
Edward and Bella decide to be ―friends‖; Bella tells Edward her theory about him being a superhero; Edward hints that he might be ―the bad guy‖
• Bella has to do blood typing in Biology class
In class, Bella gets queasy at the sight of blood; Mike escorts her to the nurse‘s office; Edward rushes to her and takes over from Mike, carrying her to the nurse‘s office; Bella explains that the smell of blood makes her sick; Edward drives Bella home, and they talk about their families; Bella invites Edward to the upcoming party at La Push
CHAPTER 6
• Bella is lonely when Edward misses the next day of school
• Bella goes to the party at First Beach in La Push
The group is joined by some of the Quileute boys; Bella meets Jacob Black; she remembers his older sisters; one of the Quileute boys tells Bella the Cullens don‘t come to La Push
• Bella flirts with Jacob to get him to tell her about the Cullens Jacob tells her the Quileute legends about wolves and vampires; Jacob says the Cullens are supposedly vampires
CHAPTER 7
• Bella does research about vampires; the facts don‘t add up
• Bella decides to go with Jessica and Angela to pick out their dresses in Port Angeles
CHAPTER 8
• Bella goes dress shopping in Port Angeles
Bella is distracted while the other girls try on dresses; she decides to go find a bookstore, telling them she will meet them later
• Bella walks in the wrong direction and is threatened by four drunk men She tries to remember self-defense moves
• Edward drives up just in time
Bella gets in his car and they speed away; Edward needs time to calm down; Bella remembers that she is supposed to meet Jessica and Angela; Edward drives to the right restaurant without asking which one
• The girls have already eaten so Edward takes Bella to dinner Edward doesn‘t notice the hostess or the waitress; Bella tells Edward he shouldn‘t
―dazzle‖ people, and he asks if he dazzles her; she tells him he does, frequently; Edward makes Bella eat while they talk ―hypothetically‖ about his ability to hear thoughts
CHAPTER 9
• On the drive home from Port Angeles, they are past all the evasiveness Bella tells Edward about her talk with Jacob Black and about the Quileute legends; Edward realizes that Bella knows the truth; Bella asks why Edward‘s family doesn‘t drink human blood; Edward tells her he doesn‘t want to be a monster; Edward promises to show her why he doesn‘t go out in the sunlight
• Bella knows that Edward is a vampire, that part of him thirsts for her blood, and that she is unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him
CHAPTER 10
• Edward offers Bella a ride to school
Edward points out that he‘s breaking the rules
• Edward listens as Jessica quizzes Bella about her relationship with him Edward is upset when he hears Bella say she likes him more than he likes her; at lunch Edward tells her she is wrong, that he‘d hurt himself if that meant keeping her safe
• Edward invites Bella to spend Saturday togther so she can see him in the sunlight
• Edward tells Bella about his hunting trip with Emmett

CHAPTER 11
• Edward and Bella watch a movie in Biology class; Bella is hyperaware of Edward sitting next to her
Mike tells Bella he doesn‘t like the idea of her and Edward; Edward quizzes Bella about all her favorite things; Billy and Jacob Black see Edward with Bella
CHAPTER 12
• Bella is afraid Billy Black will tell Charlie about Edward
• Sitting with Edward at lunch, Bella sees Rosalie glaring at her Edward explains that it will be dangerous for his whole family if, after he spends time with her publicly, things end badly; Bella tells her friends she is not going to Seattle with Edward after all
• Edward meets Bella Saturday morning and she drives to the trailhead They hike five miles to the meadow
