Abstract
This essay-style book describes the main historical events of the Ukrainian nation from ancient times to the end of the 19th century. It highlights the struggle of the Ukrainian masses against feudal and national-religious oppression. Particular attention is paid to the Liberation War of 1648-1654 and the first decades after the war, as well as to the reconstruction of the historical process in the 18th and 19th centuries.
