Аннотация
Bill Pronzini has been praised as “a master of suspense” by the Los Angeles Times, and his novels called “realistic and explosive” by the likes of Robert Ludlum. These same qualities distinguish his short fiction.
Graveyard Plots brings together the best of Pronzini’s more than 150 criminous stories published since 1968 — 23 midnight tales of psychological suspense, “impossible” crime, detection, fantasy, horror, satire, even what might be termed a Western. Included are “Strangers in the Fog,” nominated for an Edgar by the Mystery Writers of America; seven stories selected for inclusion in Best Detective Stories of the Year and Year’s Best Mystery and Suspense Stories; and “Proof of Guilt,” which was adapted for a segment of Ronald Dahl’s Tales of the Unexpected TV series.
Also included are three stories featuring the ever-popular “Nameless Detective,” whom the Chicago Sun-Times called “a remarkable creation.” One of these, “Cat’s-Paw,” received a Private Eye Writers of America Shamus for Best Short Story of 1983; another, “Sanctuary,” was written especially for this collection.
Graveyard Plots is vintage Pronzini and sure to please the growing legion of his fans.
