However, recently it has been discovered that, almost forty years before, a dark German writer, Heinz von Lichberg, had already written and published a story entitled Lolita, in which a teenager from Alicante seduced a German scholar on a trip to Spain. Did Nabokov know this first Lolita? To what extent was he inspired by it?
